What are my chances?

July 1999: 5 out of 6
July 2000: 3 out of 5
April 2001: 4 out of 4
April 2002: 6 out of 6
April 2003: 3 out of 4
April 2004: 8 out of 9
April 2005: 14 out of 17
April 2006: 20 out of 22
June 2007: 16 out of 19
June 2008: 30 out of 35
Overall 114 out of 135 candidates have passed, maintaining an 84% pass rate. Does this mean that the DICM is an easier exam than most Fellowship exams? Not necessarily. Firstly, as it is a post-fellowship exam, it automatically selects those who have already been successful at Fellowship exams. Secondly, as Mr Hayes of the IBTICM points out, since it is a voluntary exam it tends to be taken only by people who are highly motivated and fairly confident of their ICU knowledge and experience. The choice is yours!
